What to Do in Fiji? A List of the Watersports and Activities at Raiwasa

There’s a good chance that pictures of crystal clear water and stunning ocean views are the reason you decided to vacation in Fiji. On social media and screensavers around the world, Fiji is prominently featured as one of the world’s most beautiful tropical destinations. And guess what, those images hardly do the Fijian islands justice. Which brings us to the question, what to do in Fiji that ensures you have plenty of time out on the ocean?

Kayaking and Paddle Boarding from Raiwasa

If you are wondering what to do in Fiji with your open and unplanned morning hours, then you should know there is nothing more invigorating than getting out on the water. At Raiwasa Private Resort, we have the perfect setup for a morning of kayaking or paddle boarding.

Our staff is happy to arrange kayaks or paddle boards for your enjoyment at any time of day. You simply pick up the equipment you need from Raiwasa’s private beach and start the exploration immediately. Located a short paddle from Raiwasa’s shoreline are a series of bommies. This is the ideal place to see marine life ranging from tropical fish to sea turtles.

Snorkeling and Scuba on the Rainbow Reef

We’ve written several blog posts on the incredible experience of snorkeling or scuba diving on the Rainbow Reef. You can find some of these posts here and here. However, it is a topic worth repeating because Fiji’s incredible Rainbow Reef, located just off the coast of Taveuni, is stunning.

This pristine stretch of coral reef is home to upwards of 1,200 different species of fish, as well as, reef sharks, sea turtles, eels, and rays. You may even catch sight of dolphins as they travel along Taveuni’s coastline. One thing is for certain, a day spent snorkeling or scuba diving is at the to of any list covering what to do in Fiji.

Day Trip or Sunset Cruise on the Somosomo Strait

On any of these trips, you’d have the opportunity to see some of Fiji’s tropical fish and coral reef. As the sunset changes the sky from blue to vibrant shades of pink, yellow, red, and orange, this is an evening you’ll never forget.

Take a Dip in a Tropical Waterfall

Hidden among the dense jungle of Taveuni are several gorgeous waterfalls. While swimming in the freshwater pools at the base of these falls might not be the water activity you were expecting when booking a trip to Fiji, it can’t be missed!

After making the short hike to the first of the Tavoro Waterfalls, you’ll certainly be ready to cool off, and the thundering waterfall makes for an exceptional backdrop. It’s possible to spend an entire day hiking between the three Tavoro Falls and making time for a swim at each stop.
