    The Best Beaches in Fiji

    private villas in fiji

    When choosing among private villas in Fiji for your vacation, one thing you’ll want to consider is proximity to beaches. Of course, it’s easy to find private beachfront villas on this nation of 333 islands—it would be harder to find a place to stay that isn’t near a beach! But not all beaches are created alike, and it’s a good idea to research the properties of the beaches you’re staying near to make sure they have the qualities you want.

    Here, we’ll look at some of the best Fijian beaches. Whether you’re staying at a private villa near one of these beaches or you simply choose to make a day trip there, it’s a great idea to know about them and where to find them.

    Lavena Beach

    On the far east side of the island of Taveuni, you’ll find Lavena Beach. Lavena is a white sand beach that welcomes guests looking to relax, swim, or kayak. You can also enjoy the famed Lavena Coastal Walk, a guided expedition that will take you across rivers, over a suspension bridge, and past the Naba village.

    The Lavena Coastal Walk ends in the rainforest, where you’ll encounter a natural waterslide that lands in a beautiful pool. Your guide will give you time to explore and play in this area.

    The Lavena Coastal Walk is about 90 minutes each way, so consider your personal endurance before choosing this activity.

    Yasawa Islands

    The Yasawa Islands are well known for their picturesque beaches, with soft white sand and clear blue waters. The beauty of the beaches makes them an ideal getaway for a day trip, so hop on a boat and travel over to one of the islands. You can expect relative privacy at these out of the way stops, as well as plenty of peace and quiet. The Yasawa Islands are the westernmost point of the Fiji island group, located just off the coast of the large island of Viti Levu and north of the Mamanuca Islands.

    Rainbow Reef

    If you’re taking to the water for the purposes of scuba diving or snorkeling, Rainbow Reef on the Somosomo Strait is the place to be. You’ll want to examine the beaches on the southeastern point of Vanua Levu or on the northwestern side of Taveuni. Try a dive at low tide for the best experience. You’ll see fascinating coral and brightly colored fish. Dive excursions from either island can take you out into the water for your dive.

    Finding the right beach for you depends largely on the kind of vacation you want to have. Ultimately, you can be assured that there are no unpleasant beach experiences in Fiji!
