Sightseeing on the Fiji Islands

For many, one of the most enjoyable parts of any vacation is making memories in the form of pictures. Photographs make a wonderful souvenir of your time away. And Fiji is a great place to indulge in a little photography because of its bright colors and picturesque landscapes. Whether you’re relaxing on an all inclusive Fiji honeymoon, traveling with friends, or exploring the islands on your own, virtually everything you see will be worthy of your camera.
But if you want to ensure that you get the very best pictures on your trip, make sure you plan a few sightseeing excursions that will take you into the very heart of Fiji’s beauty. Here are a few of our top recommendations.
Garden of the Sleeping Giant
Located on the island of Viti Levu, the Garden of the Sleeping Giant is a great place to go for a little peace and tranquility. You’ll see more than 2000 varieties of orchids and walk among the sounds of trickling water fountains and croaking frogs. It’s a calming place that will give you the feeling that you’ve really gotten back to nature. Once you’ve made your way through the garden, your trek will lead you into the heart of the Fijian rainforest at the base of the mountain that gives this garden its name. Guides are available at no extra cost, and you’ll be treated to a refreshing fruit drink on your way out.
Shopping
Get a look at the real everyday culture of Fiji when you visit handicraft markets where you can buy woven goods and tapa cloths. Or, if you prefer, step into a food market and shop for fresh island produce or fish. While there, it is likely you’ll be invited to take part in a traditional kava drinking ceremony, and while this might not be a good place to whip out your camera, it is an experience you’re unlikely to ever forget.
Lavena Coastal Walk
This family friendly guided hike is a great way to experience a lot of the diversity of the island of Taveuni. Follow the Lavena Coastal Walk over white and black sand beaches, along the shore of a beautiful lagoon, past Fijian villages, through the forest, across several rivers, and finally to breathtaking Wainibau Falls. Once there, you’ll take the plunge into a natural swimming pool, where you may want to stay and play for a while!
There’s plenty to see and do on Fiji. Ask your all inclusive Fiji resort staff for their recommendations on more beautiful sights on the islands!
