Unexpected Pleasure of a Trip to Fiji: A Look at the Small Things

Sometimes it is the smallest things that make the biggest difference on your vacation. For example, if you’ve had a tough flight itinerary or a stressful delay, an airline can turn the experience around by offering a seat upgrade or even just a free glass of wine. Often these small touches aren’t missed or even expected, and that makes them all the better.
At Raiwasa Private Resort, we believe the unexpected pleasures on a trip to Fiji can become the most memorable moments. Often as we read the testimonials and reviews of past guests, we come across praise for the minor details. It still surprises us to learn that the friendliness of a staff member is mentioned alongside some of Fiji’s most impressive features.
However, the recognition of Fiji’s “small things” has also taught us just how much they matter – and we go out of our way to ensure every detail is perfect. What unexpected pleasures await you on a trip to Fiji? Read on to find out!
Peace and Quiet in the Morning
When was the last time you had an entire morning without alarms, emails, an early meeting, deadlines, or social media statuses? It’s probably been awhile; maybe it’s even been longer than you can remember.
At Raiwasa, we want to gift you an entire week (or more!) of these mornings. And trust us, a morning without the ding of technology or noise of a neighbor is an incredible pleasure. We recommend spending these mornings out on the wide, open-air veranda at the Raiwasa villa or simply by staying in bed for an extra hour.
Have Fresh Fruit Anytime of Day
The Fijian islands are an incredibly lush and vibrant ecosystem, and in particular, the island of Taveuni is renowned for its dense tropical jungle. Among the many different trees, flowers, and other plants are several that produce a variety of fruit. Tasting and trying these many fruits is a delicious experience while in Fiji (and one we blogged about not long ago!).
As you try the plantains, grapefruit, and kumquat found on Taveuni, you’ll be amazed at the flavor profiles of these fruits. Unlike what you frequently find at home, these straight from the vine or tree versions are bursting with complex flavors and sweetness. You’ll find these fresh fruits as part of your breakfast and other meals at Raiwasa, and as a special touch, they grow right in the garden on our property.
Having a Say in What the Resort Serves
Dining is a huge part of your trip to Fiji, but unlike vacations to Paris or New York City, the food experience in Fiji is frequently confined to your all-inclusive resort or the hotel. The reliability and convenience of eating at an all-inclusive have a certain allure. There’s no need for reservations or waiting for a table.
Yet, if you stay at the wrong resort, this single choice of restaurant could similarly hamper your options for cuisine, flavors, and foods. Input into what you eat each day can result in a substantially better experience. You’ll have the opportunity to try new cuisines and local dishes while receiving food that fits your taste buds and dietary requirements. And the entirety of the dining experience at Raiwasa, from your choice of location to accompanying fine wines and champagne, is exceptional.
A Room with a View
Proximity to the ocean is a huge benefit in Fiji. Often, a spot overlooking or near the ocean is revered and beloved for its big moments. There are the multi-colored sunsets and the ability to snorkel from your own private beach. The impressive moments can leave a big impression, but time and again we find that guests equally adore the unexpected glimpses of the ocean from a bedroom window or the bliss of hearing only waves on a cloudless night. These much smaller, but equally memorable aspects of the Raiwasa experience are what make it special.
If you are ready for a trip to Fiji that truly ticks all the boxes on unexpected pleasures and ensuring the details of your experience, you need to stay with us. For more information on our all-inclusive resort, contact Raiwasa.
