Scuba Diving Barracuda Hole in Fiji

Any scuba diving trip in the Somosomo Strait in Fiji will probably include Barracuda Hole, named after the sharp-toothed creature that inspired Heart to write a song in the seventies. As the name suggests, you’ll likely see a massive school of barracuda before the end of the dive.
There’s a steady current that takes you along a sloping reef, ranging from about six to 24 meters or 20 to 80 feet.
The reef has a pinnacle on the right and the left as you dive, offering plenty of small fish homes. These pinnacles are three to 12 meters or 10 to 40 feet deep, making them great both for scuba diving and for snorkeling.
The barracuda are usually grouped near the middle/end of your dive, when you’ve cleared the pinnacles. Most other predators will be near the edge of the reef as well.
This is a beautiful spot with a lot to offer, both in small fish and in predators. All you have to do is drift along and observe.
